Warm up
–walking and running on the spot and around the hall
Practise stopping and starting
Play statue stops.
Floor work –
practise different ways of moving on the feet
going forwards and other directions in particular sideways
Move on all fours forwards and sideways in
different ways
Apparatus work –
travel on feet forwards and sideways using all
the space around the benches and mats
Practise travelling actions along and off the
apparatus, thinking about direction.
Cool down
Lie on the floor and tense then relax the body

Points to note:
The statue game is a non elimination game.
The ‘stop’ signal can be vocal, signed or a
symbol whichever is more appropriate for your group
Children may help to put out the apparatus with
adult supervision |
