P2(ii) grasp a painting sponge ready to fill in the spaces with adult help

P3(i) look at their pattern after they have made it

Pupil Grouping(s), differentiation and support:

Objective:

To make observations about seascapes.

To make a starting point for their future work

Intended Outcomes: Children will

·                     make appropriate comments about the seascape pictures

·                     use lines and shades of blue to fill in a sheet of paper·

Language used:

Seascapes, shades of blue, lines, fill,

Lesson Plan:

   ·  Think about going on a journey across the sea. – what sort of thing do you think of – what do you see, hear, feel, touch – think of calm seas, rough seas, boats, colours, beaches etc.

   ·    Look at the PowerPoint show of seascapes.

   ·    Discuss what you can see. What is similar and what is different. What colours are mainly used?

  ·    Explain that this week we are going to take a line for a walk Take a line for a walk. Each child will have a piece of paper – A3 would be ideal but may need smaller pieces for some children. – Children in wheel chairs may use bigger pieces to make lines using black paint on their wheels.

  ·    Use a piece of charcoal on the paper and just make lines all over it, but keep coming back come back to where you started. (The children may need a demonstration of this on a flip chart or board.) Show the picture of lots of sheets of paper (joined together) where lines have been taken for a walk

   ·    Ask the children which colour they have seen in the seascapes – hopefully the answer will be blues.

   ·    Tell the children that they are going to use different shades of blues to colour in the spaces between their lines. Children who have done the lines with the wheels of their wheelchair can be given help to sponge paint onto their paper.

   ·    Explain that we are going to make a big picture of all the pictures done today so that everyone will see the work they have done and using those colours is a start to the pictures we are going to do in the next few weeks.
